Tetracycline Stain & Cosmetic Dentistry
Lily from Los Angeles had tetracycline stain on her existing teeth and her canines turned dark grey
Porcelain Veneer Restorations
The patient has tetracycline stain on her existing teeth and her canines turned dark grey from old composite veneer bonding. Tetracycline Staining occurs when a patient takes the antibiotic while the teeth are developing and can make some people very self-conscious about their smile. The dark grey colored teeth do not always respond well to teeth bleaching. Aside from the dark stain, this patient’s teeth have uneven edges, shapes that are not balanced, some teeth are longer than others and her smile is narrow.

Cosmetic Dentistry
The best treatment plan for this patient involved a combination of porcelain veneers and crowns to permanently whiten her teeth and balance her smile. The patient wanted minimal grinding on her natural teeth and Dr. Muslin was able to accomplish this, with the exception of two crowns on each corner of her mouth. The two dark canines needed full crowns to restore her bite (occlusion), and develop incisal guidance occlusion (for an optimal bite). The rest of the teeth had no-grinding porcelain veneers with customized shapes, shading and surface texture with translucency to look white and yet very natural.

Ultra Thin Porcelain Veneers
The customized ultra thin porcelain veneers bonded over the dental enamel result in enamel enhancement. The teeth can be less sensitive because of the additional porcelain veneer layer bonded to her natural teeth. When the bonding process is successful, no decay can from under the veneer. The ultimate in veneer bonding technology also leads to longer lasting cosmetic dentistry. The oldest porcelain veneer treatment by Sam Muslin DDS, MAGD, in Santa Monica California, was over 22 years ago and still looks great.
Tetracycline Stain is Permanently Hidden
The thin porcelain veneers hide the dark color of her teeth. Dr. Muslin and his personal ceramist have developed a special technique to hide a dark colored tooth and still have natural tooth contours.
