Retained Baby Teeth
Peg Lateral Incisors

From Santa Monica, two teeth made all of his teeth in his upper dental arch look out of balance

Peg Lateral Incisors, much like retained baby teeth, are usually too small to fit into the normal dental arch and are out of balance with the permanent teeth. In this case, a handsome young man from Santa Monica, CA, had only two teeth make all of his teeth in his upper dental arch look out of balance. Cosmetic dentistry can resolve this problem without drilling or shots.

Peg Lateral Incisors

Peg Lateral Incisors are small, peg shaped permanent teeth that never develop into their full size. They have short roots and the top of the tooth, or the crown of the tooth, is shaped like a peg or is triangular-shaped. Peg lateral formation is related to genetics and not our environment.

Retained Baby Teeth

Retained baby teeth (also called deciduous teeth) are generally lost as the permanent tooth erupts into position. The roots on retained baby teeth can be short, which may eventually lead to tooth loss even if the permanent tooth never formed. Dental Implants have been a great solution if there is enough room between the roots of the neighboring teeth. Dental Implants can replace baby teeth for a natural and more permanent solution. Dental bridges also can replace a missing permanent tooth quickly and without bone surgery. Dental Bridges can replace teeth when dental implants are too difficult to use (e.g.: if there is not enough room or not enough bone).

Porcelain Veneers & Porcelain Veneer Crowns

The difference between a porcelain veneer and a porcelain veneer crown is that the crown can completely surround the tooth and the veneer mainly covers just the front and sides of the tooth. In this case, Porcelain Veneers were placed on only two teeth. Porcelain Veneers can be micro thin or they can be thick. In this case, Micro-thin porcelain veneers were utilized to make the retained baby teeth and or peg lateral incisors to achieve a normal size and shape. Dr. Sam Muslin of Santa Monica, CA, treated this patient many years ago.

Micro-Thin Porcelain Veneers

Micro thin porcelain veneers are custom crafted by Dr. Muslin's ceramist and by Dr. Muslin personally. In order to get the perfect shape and light transmission through the porcelain veneer, the veneer must be coordinated with the color characteristics of the patients existing teeth. By accurate color matching and by working on the teeth personally, Dr. Muslin saves his patient's a lot of time with appointments being made over and over because the shade does not match. Dr. Muslin's ceramist is located just 2 blocks from his office in Santa Monica CA.

Porcelain Veneer before and after photos

The before and after photo of every patient on this website has been personally treated by Dr. Sam Muslin. Dr. Muslin does NOT have professional model photos or treatment photos of people that are not his patients on his website. Many websites have photos that were not the dentists actual work. Sam Muslin DDS MAGD of Santa Monica CA only uses photos of his own patients and all of the photos are untouched.
